Postponement

We are sorry to say that the Northwest Ohio Teen Book Festival will not be happening on May 2, 2020. We are planning to hold the festival once everything is up and running again post-corona virus pandemic, but at this time we don’t know when that will be. Keep an eye here for updates, and please stay safe!

Want to Help?

Were you thinking about helping plan the first ever Northwest Ohio Teen Book Festival? If so we still need to fill a few Committee Chair Positions!

We are still looking for the following chairs

  • Sponsor/Organizations: Liaison for our Sponsors
  • Social Media/Technology: Manage Social Media and (if desired) our website
  • Activities: Design and Manage Activities for the teens. This is separate from the panel discussions, these are fun activities for in-between sessions
  • Raffles/Prizes/Gifts: Help plan gifts for volunteers & authors, and raffle items to help get us started on fundraising for next year!

Teens still have time to volunteer for the Teen Advisory Council too!

If you are interested in helping us out, email us at info@nwoteenbookfest.com!

We Need Your Help

Now that we have an official date and location for the Northwest Ohio Teen Book Festival we are starting to fill our Committees, and request Sponsors, and Authors for the Festival!

We will need to raise at least $5,000 to put on the festival. This will be used to help cover travel costs, lodging, meals, administrative costs, and publicity. We are committed to making the festival free for all attendees so we are also raising funds to cover the cost for schools to bus students to the festival. If you or your business are able to help Sponsor or Donate to the festival we would truly appreciate it. You can contact us at info@nwoteenbookfest.com.

We also will need a lot of volunteers to help put on a great event! We are currently looking to fill the following Committees:

Click on a committee name to send us a message about your interest in helping out or with any questions you may have!

Finally, we are putting together a Teen Advisory Council to help us ensure that we are creating a worthwhile event for teens. If you are a teen that loves to read and would like to help bring authors into the area and put together worthwhile panels, email us at info@nwoteenbookfest.com.

We Have a Date and Location!

We apologize for the radio silence, but since we started our planning in the summer and hoped to have the Book Fest hosted at a school, we should have known that we would have to wait for school to be back in session to get things confirmed.

We are extremely excited to confirm that the Northwest Ohio Teen Book Fest will be on Saturday, May 2, 2020 and will be hosted by Toledo Public Schools at Bowsher High School (2200 Arlington Ave, Toledo, OH)!

Now that we have a confirmed date and location we will be working on sending out official author submission details, sponsorship letters, and requests for committee volunteers. If you are interested in helping out, check out the About Us page (or the Submit an Author page if you are an author or publicist) and send us your information. We will need all the help we can get to pull off a fabulous first festival!

Hello world!

Welcome to the Northwest Ohio Teen Book Fest website! This is our very first post to the page and we are so excited to see this come to light. The Northwest Teen Book Festival was an idea that Denise Phillips had and approached Tracey Roseman of Mom’s Mobile Mission, and Chelsea Bobulski, Perrysburg’s own Young Adult Author about. With Tracey’s help Mom’s Mobile Mission decided that partnering on a Teen Book Festival fit in with their mission to help families every step of the way and with Chelsea’s help we were able to generate over a dozen author leads for the festival! This all happened in just a couple weeks!

With the positive reaction from the community and authors, we contacted a few possible hosts for the event and Toledo Public Schools has come on-board to host the event in April of 2020! We are so fortunate to have a great school system willing to host the event and we can’t wait to provide more details about exactly where the event will take place!

The next step seemed obvious, putting together a website. The website will be our hub, where volunteers can sign up to help put on a fabulous Book Festival, questions about the Book Festival can be posted, authors and publishers can submit to participate, and we can share information as it becomes available!

It is hard not to write everything in one post, but we are going to leave it at that for now. We will share more soon, but in the meantime, feel free to ask questions in the comments, or share your ideas with us!
